Description
Michael Marra
Michael Marra is one of Scotland's most prolific songwriters, and a much loved and respected figure in the entertainment business. The incredible wit and street-wise wisdom of Michael’s songs makes for fascinating listening. “…his muse is governed by sound Dundonian principles, including the futility of going in the huff and the folly of vanity …” The Herald
In 2010 Michael was awarded a Herald Angel award for his superb solo concert during the recent Edinburgh Festival Fringe at the Acoustic Music Centre @ St Bride's which the Herald reviewed with a 5- star review.
To Dundonians, he's the troubador poet who has sculpted from the rhythms and accents of their city a songbook so comprehensive it should be required listening for anyone venturing over the Tay Bridge. To football fans he's the author of Hamish The Goalie, an ode in song to Hamish McAlpine, the legendary Dundee United stopper. And to connoisseurs of Scottish music he shares best kept secret status with people like Bert Jansch and Davy Graham.
